1. Beksan Srikandhi-Suradewati
A dance taken
from Serat Mahabaratha story tells about a fight between Dewi Suradewati and
Dewi Srikandi. Prabu Dasalengka, who wants to marry Dewi Siti Sendari, asks his
sister, Dewi Suradewati, to propose. The fact that Dewi Siti Sendari has been
enganged to Raden Abimanyu makes Dewi Suradewati to force more to propose. On the
other hand, Dewi Srikandhi stands for Raden Abimanyu and makes a fight between
those twi goddesses. As a result, Dewi Srikandhi achieves her victory.
2. Retno Asri
It
is a short introductory dance that is adopted from a variety of different movements
from Yogyakarta classical dance. It tells the story of young girls growing up
in a dynamic, high-spirited way.
3. Golek Kenya Tinembe
This dance tells a story of a
grown-up girl who is in love. Her love causes her to always want to look as
beautiful and as gorgeous as possible. She imagines an adorable prince who will
come to her and declare his love for her. The emotion is so real, picturing the
girl’s soul as a sea wave, for having the viewers caught up in the dance.
4. Cantrik
The
words Cantrik actually comes
from Javanese language. It is a dance which represents some pupils which are
studying. While they are studying, they also play and work.
5. Tetopengan
This
dance is inspired by some varieties of man’s traditional dance movement which
is developed based on the character of man’s dance movement for children. It
tells us about a boy which is dressing himself up because he is falling in love
with a girl. He combs his hair, powders his face, arranges his eye-brows and his moustache, tidies up his
clothes, and finally looks in the mirror.
